"A Wink and a Smile"

Over the years I have abstained from certain sweets or made promises that would help me to grow closer to God.  Some of the ideas were very juvenile and just a bit too easy  ... not much of a sacrifice.  Last year was a wonderful year where I was able to walk alongside my husband's journey in becoming a Catholic.  Up until that point in my life, I never felt more connected to my faith.  Suddenly I am one of those crazy Catholics who has filled her home with countless books on the faith, a few statues, and a lot more PRAYER.  My life is different, but in a really GREAT way.  I'm learning all the time and I just love it!  So I sit here this morning and ponder over what I would like to do or abstain from this LENT. Hmmmmmmm ... I spend way too much time sitting on this chair typing away on a keyboard.  My life could certainly use a little more time AWAY from this computer screen.  Where I once looked at my mommy board (from '01), played around with my photos,  and did email; I...

 ... and I don't mean this June Cleaver  . I MEAN this one ...   This lovely TV mother who always had her hair just so.    MINE is washed daily, but never styled beyond the quick blow dry with hair spray.  I feel like I have been stuck in the messy looking "do" for a while because it's easy.  When I don't spend a lot of time on my hair, I feel like it looks like that way on purpose. This styling mother who wore dresses, aprons, and little pumps every day.   This mommy, wears jeans, t-shirts, and slip on shoes (clog, flip flops) most days.  When the summer comes, I may don a skirt ... m A Y B E . June always had a lovely hot breakfast.  Each and every meal seemed to have all family members present. In my house, you get cereal, frozen waffles, yogurt, or instant oatmeal for breakfast on weekdays.  You must shovel it down in 8 minutes and most of the time there is only one other family member sitting at the breakfast table with you.  For the evening, if planned wel...

I'm frustrated with the "free" background ... it is slow and a lot of it just isn't my style. I'm not in the best frame of mind for writing lately ... my blog shows that. I think my goal this summer (when I "think" I will have time) is to learn how to create MY OWN background. I wonder if I will do it? Hmmmmm ... *See, I can't even write in complete sentences that flow well.  I think that is how I operate lately.
