Sometimes God throws you a LAUGH

Such as the husband's shout from the bedroom for me to come see something. I quickly go to see what he wants. He holds up a dry cleaner's hanger, clear bag, and what appears to be ... GYM SHORTS ! I must have thrown gym shorts in the bag that was being sent to the dry cleaners. Normally I just dry clean dress shirts, dress pants, and dresses. I don't dry clean smelly, athletic shorts. My husband just laughed ... I did too. We will just call these shorts his DRESSY GYM SHORTS. LOL!

She KNOWS every song out there!

Listening to the radio today, we heard a song that could possibly be the only one NOT overplayed in the last year. The reason for that probably is because the song debuted in 2003 ... "I don't want to be" by Gavin DeGraw. 5 year old ... "This must be a new song" Big sisters ... "No, it's really OLD!" 5 year old ... "Then how come I don't know it?" This 5 year old is a backseat singer who KNOWS her songs. At least all the ones that are from 2005 and on ... Continuing to listen to the song, she just proceeded to hum the rest of it and throw in a few choice words of her own. She's a singer after all!

The banana bread mishap ...

Date: Easter Sunday Place: My kitchen Time: mid afternoon Problem: Lots of over ripe bananas, but in need of one extra egg to make bread. Solution: Ask a neighbor for the egg with the intention of giving away half the loaf after it is baked. Everything went as expected after the ingredients were all found. The banana bread was baked and it perfectly popped out of my stone loaf dish. While it was cooling, my 9 year old kept walking by sniffing the air and asking when she could have a piece. I wanted the bread to cool a little longer, so she (im) patiently waited. In the meantime, I did speak about how I would give some of the banana bread to the neighbor who helped out with the egg. It would be the nice thing to do. When the bread was cool enough, I sliced the tiniest sliver off of the end and put it on a napkin for the 9 year old. It was near to dinner time and I didn't want her appetite ruined for the dinner we were making. Just a few minutes later, that same child ask...

He needed some pink accessories ...

Poor male puppy doesn't understand that 5 sisters do not know any better .

Funny questions for DAD ...

"DAD ... do you have curly, wavy, or straight hair?" "DAD ... do you have a WIDOW'S PEAK? "

The PRE-WASH CYCLE ...

Thankfully he doesn't STAND in the dishwasher anymore .. .

Mommy why are you rubbing that on a wash cloth?

I got a good chuckle out of bath time when my 6 year old was so very confused that I used this ancient cleanser called BAR SOAP on her.  It made me realize that for all of her life I have used something pouf like ... with just a bit of something liquidy ...  She's clean though ... Guess, that NEW STUFF works ;)

The CREEPY DOLL

Well this is not a doll, but my real life 3rd daughter in the year 2000.  She is rather sweet and almost looks like a doll. BUT, this is the doll .  A few years back my mom gave her to {m}.  She said that Poppie (my dad) thought this looked so much like her as a baby and he really wanted {m} to have it.  I really am not "into" life-like looking dolls, but my dad was on his death bed and how could I say no to taking this doll home with us. She may almost look like a real baby, but honestly my big babies WERE NEVER THIS BIG ... EVER!  This doll is huge and she is heavy ... made of porcelain.  Even her dress is quite gaudy. I would have changed it out with baby clothes, but I couldn't  because ... THIS DOLL IS FAT.   She really is way off the charts. AND ... this doll is missing a finger that my mom put into a small ring box for me to take home.  She said ... "just glue the finger back on".   I never did.   For some reason this ring box finger sits in my jewelry d...

A little "funny" for fun ;)

*A friend sent this to me. It looks really small, but if you click on it, it will enlarge ...

"It's GOOD that Mom finally has a job!"

... these words coming from the 6 year old. I guess all these years I have been just a trophy wife that likes to do odd jobs around the home for free.  Sometimes I pop out babies  ... making sure they don't get hurt, driving them to the pool, buying them snacks, and organizing playdates.  Oh, I also make sure they get fed, clothed, and educated.  I even throw in a few pointers on how to behave and be good people. Before I was JUST a mom . Now I am a Sunday School Teacher . I still don't get paid with money. What if I tell my 6 year old that I work from the heart (no paycheck) ... that I am just trying to share The Good News of Jesus with others?  Will that still be a job to her? Hmmmm ....  Maybe I should just tell her that I do get money (an allowance or paycheck) from her Dad, but that I prefer to spend it all on my children. YES, that's what I will do!   I do have a job ... t w o in fact ;)

I didn't think it was possible ...

Yesterday I took a few of my girls (10 and 8 year old) to the library for their book club.  Little {c} ... the NOW 3 year old, sat with me at a table perusing some books.   She was so intent - turning the pages and actually looking at the words and pictures.  I was quite impressed at her level of concentration.  So I thought. After a few minutes, {c} tapped me on the arm and whispered "Mommy, those ladies are talking about Disney World". Here I thought she was almost reading a book, but really she was eavesdropping on a conversation happening at the next table over from ours. WOW, {c} has figured out something I did not think was possible of a 3 year old.   What TALENT! I know, because this is something I am very good at as well ;)
