Grrrrr ... dress shopping for a 13 year old

On Saturday my just turned 13 year old will be going to a Bat Mitzvah ... I guess a Jewish type of confirmation.  Anyway, she has not dressed up for anything in a long time and we need to get something appropriate for the occasion. 13 year olds are just in an IN BETWEEN phase .  They look goofy in kids clothes, but even goofier I think in older women's clothing.  Worse yet, there is the "hootchie mama" type of dress.  I see this way too often for my liking. I need ideas for what to wear for this type of occasion and where to go for a 13 year old who weighs about 94 pounds and is 5'1". I need ideas QUICK. When did all this growing and aging happen?  I was just not ready for this teenager to outgrow her kid size.  ((((SIGH)))))

Sometimes you forget the really simple things ...

Like how a little 3 year old can have so much fun just playing (for free) on a playground in the neighborhood. I used to take my older girls when they were small to the playground ALL THE TIME . Especially when we lived in CA, I had my pick of about 8 different playgrounds. When we moved to NJ, I didn't frequent the playgrounds all that much because we really didn't have a great pick. We also had our first backyard playground so my girls had entertainment right outside my house doors. Today where we live, we also have a playset in the backyard, but I guess sometimes what you have can be boring. I took little {c} to a playground and she had so much fun. I enjoyed just sitting outside ... the weather is just beautiful (sunny and 70 degrees). What was especially nice was being away from my house and the many distractions. I got to play with {c}, watch her climb, swing, and slide. There was also the opportunity for me to take some pictures which always makes me happy. For ...

SWIMMERS take your mark ...

Make a Smilebox slideshow *Miss {k} was the anchor for the relay (video) ... record breaking swim. This was only a few swimmers of our very large team that attended this swim meet. {m} and {e} swam and also did really well ... taking time off. {k} was again part of some records for the relays ... 200 free (15 years old) and 200 medley relay. She finished off her 10 year old swim in record breaking style ... how cool is that. The weather was beautiful and this meet went so fast that we were able to do some fun afternoon activities ... the zoo, Beale Street, and dinner at P.F. Changs. A really nice break!
