"A Wink and a Smile"

Taken from 'the onion dome" ...With my Dad's recent death, this really touched me ... thank you. The pain of suffering is such a great mystery. But within this mystery is a great gift. In our fallen state we are divided and our minds race off in a countless number of directions. Even at prayer, when we should be focused on God, we constantly struggle to quiet our minds and are unable to allow them to descend into our hearts. But when we suffer, the mind centers on the pain of our heart and it is there that we encounter God. When we’re in the midst of pain we are single-minded and all the distractions that seemed so important evaporate into the nothingness that they truly are. A prayer in the midst of pain is not a distracted prayer. Things such as what we will wear or eat are no longer important. The usual distractions of how someone annoyed us or how we appear to others is suddenly foreign to our minds. We are in the present, the only moment that we ever truly h...

I can't believe my baby is 2 (sniffling)!

I know that I really didn't, but taking on the responsibility of 2 of my children's education full time, feels a bit like a new job. All this is exciting, but a little scary too. I am one of those people that worry a lot BEFORE, but once I dive in, things are never as hard as I thought. Hopefully homeschooling will be the same ;) This summer will definitely be a BUSY ONE!!!!!

Today I walked into the front office of my girl's school and asked to withdraw two of my girls. The other 2 (my soon to be K and 7th grader) will stay at their current school. I was so worked up about doing this, but it was rather uneventful. I am sure as soon as I turn in the withdrawal slip later today, they will call up some other family on the waiting list and tell them that there are openings. Good for them, and GOOD FOR ME! Dear Jesus, I really enjoy learning about you in the gospel of Luke. I learned that you were very brave to die on the cross for us. It must have been very hard to give up your life for our sins. You performed many miracles to help people from dying or from getting very sick. Your miracles changed a lot of lives. Those stories are very inspiring. You are very lucky to have a mother that had no sins at all. She believed in God so much that she carried you, God's son without a question. I believe in you Jesus.
