I like raspberries and marshmallows!

A notable conversation ... {c} :  " I need a snack" ME :   "{c}, you can have a piece of fruit" {c} : "I only like raspberries and marshmallows" ME :   "we don't have raspberries ... how about a peach?" {c} : "I'd rather a marshmallow" ME :   "a peach first!" { c} :   "then I want a marshmallow" ME :   "fine!" These are the deals I sometimes make.  By far this was actually one of the easier ones ... we both got what we wanted. I just cook, clean, and buy food.  3 year olds definitely run the show!

It's been a little quiet over here

For the last 4 years I find I am a little nutty the 2 weeks leading up to school. Last year may have been a little calmer ... only 2 going to "school" and the other 2 were homeschooled. I had a lot less supplies to gather, but then I did feel the first time pressure of lesson planning. Some people have asked about our changes and I am not sure I can fully articulate our reasons for sending all the girls back to "school". I'll give it a try though. A little history ... We moved to our current state back in '05. In the years prior, they (I guess it was only the oldest 2) went to public school. We had a great public school that I did really like. Aside from {e}'s 4th grade teacher, I was pretty happy with the teachers and the school atmosphere. When we moved here, we were warned of the terrible public schools and in our incredible state of being hurried (finding out that we are moving halfway across the country and actually doing it within a 7 week t...

Now I know why the SCHOOLS (here) start by mid August

It is so STINKIN' HOT here.  There isn't much outdoor stuff to do comfortably. 100+ temps are pretty darn STICKY.  Saturday was the worst at 105.  It was the perfect day to do yard work that had been neglected and take that 3 mile run ... NOT! Yesterday I took the 5 minnies to the pool for some cool down.  The kid pool was like a hot tub and the main pool was not much cooler.  We had to walk around with flip flops and put them by the edge of the pool because the cement was soooooooooo hot.  I did get in a few laps.  It's always fun to be laughed at for your swimming by your daughters.  Maybe this 37 year old mom wearing a bikini and doing the  butterfly with your daughters pink goggles is not too cute.  I definitely did not look as sharp as Dara Torres  . Worse off may be my husband who is currently on a (work) team building trip ... at a camp.  He is likely hanging out with many sweaty, smelly folks.  Himself being one of them.  I'm not jealous ... not at all! The go...

Nothing says GOOD MORNING like

LITTLE TOES IN YOUR RIBS! Every morning between 6 and 6:15 am a little 3 year old comes crawling into my bed.  She wedges herself between her dad and I, but somehow her back rubs up against her dads and those cute little piggies find their way into my ribcage.  Of course she always falls back to sleep, but I am pretty much up for the day. In less than 2 weeks my wake up time will be moved up to 5:30 am or so.  Now unless my 3 year old senses the need to be in my bed at an earlier time, the ALARM will be waking me up. ALARM or TOES in the ribs? I'm not sure either would be my choice.
