When I hear this I feel like MOVIN'

HEY, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, ... Some commenter mentioned how his dancin' was creepy. NONSENSE, I say! The man is 41 and sounds great AND looks great. PLUS he makes me want to run on my treadmill. AND, I know who MISTER MISTER is (LOL) So that make's him pretty great in my books ;) *move onto the black area to find the PLAY arrow ;)

YAY ... some fun, FAMILY friendly KID MUSIC ...

Check out this site ... it's HIP for kids! My little {c} who is 4 just loved all the music by They Might Be Giants . I had no idea that they have been quite busy in recent years doing KID stuff. Of course we also like Barenaked Ladies and there is some very cool stuff there too. Just sharing because it IS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR and maybe this would be a great stocking stuffer ;)

Last night I had a FUN TIME with my BIG GIRLS ...

We saw these guys ... And then FINALLY we saw this guy ... who had a really GREAT voice (wonderful live) and his band was pretty wonderful too! It was a school night so we cut out just a little early. I'm wondering if we missed this song ... (of course Colbie Caillat was not there to sing the duet ... some girl named ANYA who was just okay as one of the opening acts)

"Hope it gives you ..."

WELL (that's what we change the words to) not H - E - double hockey sticks (like All American Rejects  version) Why is it that those catchy tunes have to either be so inappropriate or contain foul language?  My almost 4 year old loves to listen to what her sisters do.  It isn't the most proud feeling to look into your rear mirror to see your little girl in her pink flowered carseat belting out Katy Perry songs. Every once in a while I turn off  my Catholic Channel on Sirius /XM and listen to some current music.  I know that some might say ... just don't listen to that stuff.  Honestly though, if I turn on The BLEND (older more contemporary stuff) you'll still run into the occasional Marvin Gaye tune.  You know, the one that belts out "Se-*-ual Healing" .  My girls and my husband are really into music ... well, I am too.  However, my style is a little more conservative.  I tend to listen to the lyrics and if something sounds good and isn't objectionable...

American IDOL fun!

*These were my favorites from last night ... Just loved the harmony of these groups! Is it me or does Danny Gokey look just a little bit like Robert Downey Jr? I am really hoping for an exciting season. My prediction is that there will be more talented BOYS . I really hope they don't just pick an even split of girls and guys. I really want to see talent!

BEAUTIFUL and ...

this totally gave me goose bumps. Plus these guys are talented and easy on the eyes. Today was one of those days when you click on one thing and continue to click until you get something like this ...

Enjoying these new sites ...

Well already you may have noticed the little postcard below.  I am really having fun with my videos and photos ! Another cool place to visit is this new music streaming site . Let's just say it works very well with anything APPLE.  You can pick an artist that you like and it will create radio stations based on that.  As you listen to a song, you can give it a thumbs up or down.  You can even say you love it and want to purchase it on your iTunes.  Listen to a number of created stations (made by you) on your phone or computer.  IT IS FREE!

Finding GOOD MUSIC

What’s in a lyric? It doesn’t have to be ‘Christian music’ to be Christian music (taken from the above link) It doesn’t have to be “Christian” music for God to give it the thumbs up. Musicians are gifted with an ability to bring other people enjoyment through use of a talent that most people don’t possess. Greg, in fact, said it may even be more of a challenge to be an artist who is a Christian rather than a Christian artist. Christian musicians are, in effect, often preaching to the choir, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Artists who possess a Christian faith and who play mainstream secular rock for instance, have an opportunity to gift a listener not only with their talent, but with a message. I'm not a big Christian Rock listener. It isn't that I don't like it. Mostly I just haven't really exposed myself to it. I do like a variety of music and I try my best to listen to the words of the songs that I hear. Of course there is a lot of junk out there ... terr...

Feeling lively ...

The weather has been so beautiful all week. The grass is greening up, bulbs are sprouting some beautiful flowers, and the trees are starting to grow leaves. Even my black car seems to be getting that oh so lovely pollen dust all over ... my allergies are certainly feeling that! I've been a little lazy with exercise for nearly 3 weeks now. Time to dust off the sneakers and find some good inspiring, heart pumping music to add to my iPod.

American Idol Christmas ...

I know that many people gave this boy some grief over his looks and his crooked teeth (now he has some shiny veneers) , but I really did think that he had a great sound. Over the last few months I have heard his songs on the radio and he even has a Christmas CD. Sounds groovy to me ... http://video.ivillage.com/player/?id=168146 His sound is very soulful ... like a Stevie Wonder. Love it!

An early GIFT from the husband ...

Of course I did remind him that the tickets went on sale at exactly 10am this morning ;) ... MICHAEL BUBLE I love the old sounds of the crooners from the 50's (and earlier) ... Frank, Dean, Nat, and Bing. Harry Connick is another favorite of mine. Can you not tell with the title of my blog? Michael (a great name by the way), is just a sexy, nice, and talented man ... love that! This concert is a gift ... just after my birthday. I know that it will be a fun time.

Girls Just Want to Have FUN!

We like to sing in our house All types of songs Karaoke is fun Even the 2 year old can figure it out! *I don't know what in particular I love about Fridays, but it is A GREAT DAY!

Talking about my little music snipet on the right ...

As I was working on my blog yesterday ... moving over posts, making things look pretty, etc, I was thinking about my title. I guess it was almost a year ago that I came up with "A Wink and a Smile" as my blog title. It really does not have significant meaning. This little post was taken from my previous blog ... I remember the days of just keeping time Of hanging around in sleepy towns forever Back roads empty for miles Well you can’t have a dream and cut it to fit But when I saw you I knew We’d go together, like a wink and a smile Leave your old jalopy by the railroad track We’ll get a hip double-dip hip Tip-Topy, two seat Pontiac So you can rev her up, don’t go slow It’s only green lights and no rights Let’s go together like a wink and a smile Now my heart is music, such a simple song Sing it again the notes never end this is where I belong Just the sound of your voice the light in your eyes They’re so far away from yesterday Together like a wink and a smile We go together ...
