"A Wink and a Smile"

Just two children ... the upcoming 6th grader and her 4 year old sister. I'm really excited about the decision. Right now I am in planning mode. I'm pretty certain what I will do for MATH, but am waivering on some of the other subjects. Back in February I did try to put my 11 year old on the list for the virtual academy in our state. They only accept a certain number and it is all based on a lottery system. Well, it appears we are on the waiting list. While I thought this was just what I wanted to do, I am now thinking that what I like about homeschooling is also the freedoms that go with it. So, I'm going to throw out a few ?'s to those who homeschool ... Any favorite curriculum suppliers? What is your favorite subject to TEACH?

I completely got rid of my previous template. I wasn't thrilled with the colors (not sure how to change them) and when the header photo was messed up, I added my own picture, but I still didn't like the look of my blog. So for now I went back to the MINIMA template, but actually researched and worked in a 3rd column. I like 3 columns ... looks neater to me with all of my "stuff". It would be possible for me to look up someone and PAY that person to rework my blog, but as you can see from the few years that I have had this blog, that I like to mix things up a little. It could impact my visitors, but I don't care. I'm the one looking at it the most ;) Trying to learn HTML or at least find ways to copy and change parts to get looks that I like. Today my blog looks one way, but I can't guarantee what tomorrow's "LOOK" will be. Patience ...

I was listening to The Catholic Guy on my radio this afternoon and nearly made a call when he did his little segment on what random thing are you thankful for . It was a little over a month ago that I made my very first call into Gus Lloyd's radio show, but I wasn't sure I could be witty enough for LINO. Today was hot and keeping hydrated is so, SO important when you live in the humid South. Today we got to 97 and it was just so sticky. Yesterday I picked myself up a new water bottle. This water bottle is THE BEST ... It fits neatly in my car's cup holder It doesn't have a plastic or weird taste There is no valve that I have to pull up (I don't like that) I pop a little button and the cap opens and stays that way for me to POUR the water into my mouth. It keeps my water ICE COLD ... yes, it actually does what it says. I kept it in my car that I KNOW went over the 100 degree mark. It also sat in the steamy SUN at the pool. I am notorious for buying those big...

PLEASE STAND BY ... I got this template free from LENA and apparently she has exceeded her bandwidth limitations. As a result I lost the header photo. ***For now, I have "figured out" how to put my own photo in its place, but I'm not sure this will be a permanent "look". WHAT TO DO????? I'll have to figure it out later tonight. Something tells me that it will take a lot of work on my part ... once again (ugh).

WOO HOO!!!! The yard itself is still in a sad shape ... the rock pathway along fence line is not complete, the grass needs cutting, and we desperately need to re-sod this side of the yard. Having dogs in the yard (not all day, but still) reaps havoc on the condition ... ugh. I really hope the veggies and fruit take well. We put up some vinyl coated chicken wire to hopefully keep the puppy out of the garden. For some reason he likes to eat leaves. One day I brought home two plants that I thought I would put in pots in the yard. My plants were not left alone more than 5 minutes before I came back to see that Auggie the pup ate all the flowers. Needless to say those potted plants are now at the side of the house and not in the yard ;) Can't wait to eat some fresh fruit and veggies!
