Another busy week ahead ...

Today ... homeschool standardized testing. This is our first time at that. Only {k} has to take it. We did a lot of review on test taking skills and practice tests this past month(she has done great). I want her to do well for HER. It would also be nice if maybe she had some improvements over last years test. Selfishly, then I would feel good for ME (knowing I taught her). I don't "love" these tests because I don't (lots of reasons), but we have to take them.

The rest of the week is filled with learning, school, swim team practice, track practice, church on Wed. night, track meet on Wed. night, Communion practice on Sat., youth group retreat (for older daughter) on Sat., Family Day at my husband's work on Sat. and dinner at a friends on Sat. (gosh SATURDAY IS FULL!).

Little {b} is saying an intention at all school mass on Friday. She will read "For all those who have died may they share in the fullness of life with Jesus Christ". Hopefully she will project that little voice and not be too shy. Although, she is just 5 and to get in front of an entire Church ... yikes! I need to start praying for her.

{e} is serving at two masses this week ... all school Friday mass and I believe she will be altar serving at her sister's Communion on Sunday. We still need confirmation on that.

YES, we have a big day on SUNDAY! First Holy Communion for {m}. We finished up her banner this past week and handed it in yesterday. I should have taken a photo of it (oops). Hopefully all the felt and items will stay glued to the banner for viewing next Sunday.

I'll be sure to post some photos of my little beauty next week. Her dress is just breathtaking!

Yesterday we started a 9 day novena in preparation for her First Communion.

Day 1: Love

Child: Jesus said, "This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35)
Parent: God our Father, help us most especially during these next nine days to prepare our child to receive your Son, Jesus.
All: Jesus, you were always kind and loving to others.
Please help us to follow your example.
Jesus, I believe in you.
Jesus, I hope in you.
Jesus I love you.
Come, Lord Jesus, make your home in my heart.

Gosh, it sounds like a very busy week! Please post pics of the dress. My only girl will no longer wear breathtaking dresses so I can appreciate one even more. Good luck with all you have on your plate this week!

E, I really love when you share these posts and give us "uncatholics" a bit of insight into the catholic faith. It's been interesting for me to learn about these things. I really appreciate it.

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
