Let's TALK ABOUT FOOD and ...

HOW I HARDLY EAT ANY.

UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Okay, so it has only been 11 days and I have a good 18 more days (minimum) before I may be able to move up to slightly MUSHY foods ... like bananas, eggs, overcooked pasta.  At the 6 week mark I can add a bit of chewier foods to my diet.  By 8 weeks, I should be able to eat whatever I can possibly eat.

My mother has been with me the last 11 days and has done all sorts of cooking.  For WHO you might ask ... why that would be for my children, my husband, and my dog.  WHAT ABOUT ME?  She offered me some JELLO.  Told me that it was healthy ... huh? JELLO is sugar and water.  JELLO does not have any vitamins in it.  JELLO doesn't even begin to fill a starving woman's body.  JELLO SUCKS and I am boycotting it for the rest of my 18 days.

TONIGHT I ran away after my mom served my children some pork chops, mashed potatoes, fresh spinach, and fresh bread.  I couldn't take it any longer. I needed to get out and find ME SOME GOOD FOOD.  So as soon as my husband pulled up in the driveway, I stole his car and headed to the grocery store.  Walking around the store (pulling up my pants that are starting to slide off of me), I come up with  ... Butternut Squash Apple Soup, Turkey Chili with Beans, Chocolate Pudding (and not the sugar free kind), and some ice cream (chocolate ripple).

I purchased
I drove home
I blended chili into soup
I ate the entire bowl
I had dessert

Tonight for the first time in 12 days I feel SATISFIED!

that sounds yummy!! A bowl, rather cup of warm soup really does a body good!
Good for you! You can blend up most any kind of soup and eat it, right? And yay for ice cream!

So sorry you are struggling!

I am cracking up that you said SUCKS on your blog....you must really be frustrated.
I am hoping that soon you will be able to bite into a sandwich or potato.
I feel for you.

I feel for you! I remember when my brother broke his jaw and had to have it wired shut for six weeks. Luckily he had also just lost his two front teeth. My mom would pop macaroni and cheese into the space and he would swallow it whole.

This may not be nearly as filling as chili, but fruit smoothies would be really good for you too. We blend a bag of frozen fruit, 1/2 a cup of plain or vanilla yogurt, about 1 cup V8 Fusion juice (it has a full serving of fruit and veggies) and a banana. You could add a protein shot for good measure--or a shot of tequila ;-)

Happy recovery!

Yes, I second Laura's comment. You must be REALLY sick of Jello.

I was gonna say -- what about pudding? At least it's got some milk and may be a little protein in it. Yogurt? I love the pureed chili idea. And I'm glad you feel satisfied FINALLY. I hope you don't get sick of chili though after this is all over.

Hang in there honey and know I'm thinking of you.

JELLO IS NOT FOOD

Lets look at the brightside (i know, easy for me to say i eat like a horse or three) No weight problem and it's lent so if you can't eat now is the time to do it.

And just think about how good everything is going to taste once you can eat. Well maybe you shouldn't do that. Might drive you nuts and you will be trying to puree a steak in your blender

I'm sorry, Elaine. I know this is hard for you. Smoothies are pretty good and easy to make. I do a cup of vanilla yogurt, half cup of oj, cup of strawberries, a half a banana and ice. I like the suggestion of tequila in there too...lol. That would go great with your pain pills and then, everything your mom would do would be just so wonderful...lol! I have a WW recipe that actually uses a pudding mix in a smoothie. Of course, you don't need to use the sugar free, low fat stuff. But it might be good for you. Let me know if you are interested and I'll dig it up.

Oh you poor thing. Way to take charge of your diet though. I hope you find more foods to add to your list.

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

"The Loveliness of The Seashore"

What is the "Seashore" like? "Where the sky meets the sea ... The seashore is a place where the sea and the sky are the same smoky gray until ... the morning sun breaks through. The hot noonday sun feels warm as a big soft cat covering you. And it seems there is nothing in the world except the sound of the wind and the rising and falling of waves." Over at Dawn 's there are so many wonderful books suggested on her blog. Earlier this month I couldn't help but to peek at some of them ... thanks Dawn! *The above quote came from The Seashore Book . The ocean moves in and then moves out. This place where water, sky and earth meet is never the same. The tide comes in, the tide goes out, each wave that returns pushes against the incoming swell as it is pulled back into the endless depths and swallowed into the vastness of an unknown deep. Such is each day of our "daily" lives. I grew up enjoying the sights, sound, and the surf of the NY/Jersey "shor...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
