Momto5minnies meets the Pioneer Woman!

I read her blog and knew that she was coming into town for her book signing and I thought about going, but I also knew it was the day that I was getting my braces off (MONDAY 11/9). On Sunday night before, my husband made a quick trip to Walmart and brought home a flyer saying how Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) was coming the next day. I'm not sure if my husband was more excited about me getting my braces off the next day or having me MEET THE PIONEER WOMAN.

I guess I really did want to go, but now I HAD TO GO!

Monday was a crazy day ...
  • jitters in the am
  • 4.6 mile run to make me feel relaxed (it was also my longest run yet)
  • drop the 12 year old at her homeschool art class
  • quick trip to Walmart (to see if there were Pioneer Woman cookbooks ... no luck, but my husband picked me up a few ... I'm gifting some for Christmas).
  • home to throw a pot roast in the crockpot
  • braces removal at 11:30am
  • dentist visit at 1pm
  • usual afterschool chaos of swim team
  • home for a 30 minute rest
  • wait on line in WALMART for 3 hours

The very long line I waited on ... starting in the Home Fashions section ...

The grumpy child who missed her chance to get a soda at MCD's
and as a result got stuck with me!

She was not really happy to have me take a photo of her ...

But, the big sister brought back some sodas ... all was well

Maybe too well ...

Ahhhhhhh YES, it is HE!
A very sweet, shy man, who doesn't quite seem ready for the "celebrity" stuff ... note the blushing cheeks. He was gracious and had very sparkly blue eyes.


FINALLY, it is THE PIONEER WOMAN herself. Amazing how she only started her blog in 2006.
Look where she has taken it!

I too had braces, twice in fact, the last time I was preg. with my second child. MANY years ago.

Man! That is so great you got to meet her AND MM. I love the pics and the play-by-play! I'm hoping to get to see her in Atlanta. I'm in NC, but that's the closest she'll be to the Carolinas!

Found your blog through The Park Wife...I am also a Catholic Mom (of 4, 3 of which are girls who look the same ages as some of yours). I can't imagine my kids putting up with me embarassing them while standing in line and speaking to strangers. They think I'm crazy when I talk to people I don't know...I love to embarass them!

BTW...Your teeth look FABULOUS!

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
