Happy Birthday to my MAN!

and the only one MALE who walks on two feet in my house ;)

I met him when I was 16 ... he is now 39.

He still makes me smile.
He makes my heart go pitter patter.
He's funny.
He's caring.
He gives to me more than I could ever come close to deserving.

I would keep going to give you 39 reasons why I love this man so, but that may seem silly.

OH, what the heck, I'll do it anyway!

34 more reasons why I love this man ... (and in no particular order)

  1. He's super smart ... big brains are very sexy.
  2. He no longer has hair, but he lost it all in a very good way ... no weird missing patches. Plus he has a nice round head. BALD is BEAUTIFUL ;)
  3. He gives GREAT hugs.
  4. He calls me and texts me to check on me ... I love that he still thinks about me all the time.
  5. Family is first to him. It was clear from the beginning and that belief is not waning.
  6. He sometimes exercises with me ... that always keeps up both motivated.
  7. He didn't hate me when I brought home a 2nd doggie without asking him. He just refuses to help out in some ways ;)
  8. He loves all things NEW in the gadget world. If it weren't for him, I would not be nearly as HIP as I am.
  9. He encourages me to learn new things ... photography
  10. He believes that I am doing a wonderful job TEACHING my girls.
  11. He's engaging and I see that first hand every once in a while when we are in a public/work situation.
  12. He's respected by others and I think that is so honorable!
  13. He is CATHOLIC and chose to be!
  14. He loves Disney.
  15. He believes in me ... that I can be all that I want to be.
  16. He plays with our girls.
  17. He tackles the evening carpool from the pool each and every night.
  18. He put on his very first SPEEDO at the age of 38 because he wanted to show his girls and his wife that he wanted to be in shape and experience what they do all the time.
  19. He is always polite to my family and friends.
  20. He likes to wine and dine with ME!
  21. He likes sci-fi, but I will forgive him ;)
  22. He buys me chocolate because he knows that makes the wife a little happier ;)
  23. He doesn't mind that I sleep with a heating blanket on HIGH ... just as long as it only covers half the bed.
  24. He loves me even though I am a little off my rocker :p
  25. He is PRO-LIFE!
  26. He has a big voice and my girls can always HEAR him when he CHEERS for them at swim meets.
  27. He takes the older girls to swim meets that require travel time. Just this past weekend he took the older 3 to a swim meet for 2 days and 2 nights ... HE ROCKS!
  28. He works for a very reputable company that allows me to look and feel beautiful ... "Because, I'm worth it!"
  29. He will sit through a sappy, girl movie with me.
  30. He sometimes tears up at emotional scenes in movies ... I pretend not to notice ;)
  31. He can finish my sentences.
  32. He is a very good kisser.
  33. He gave us a family of 5 beautiful girls.
  34. He would do ANYTHING if you asked him.

I love you SCOTT ... more and more, with each passing moment.

Wonderful, wonderful post Elaine. You are both very blessed to have each other and such a loving marriage. And you are an example to many. Marriage isn't always a walk in the park, but respecting and cherishing your partner makes it just that much easier.

Wonderful reminders here -- and Happy (belated) Birthday to Dadto5minnies! :)

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

"The Loveliness of The Seashore"

What is the "Seashore" like? "Where the sky meets the sea ... The seashore is a place where the sea and the sky are the same smoky gray until ... the morning sun breaks through. The hot noonday sun feels warm as a big soft cat covering you. And it seems there is nothing in the world except the sound of the wind and the rising and falling of waves." Over at Dawn 's there are so many wonderful books suggested on her blog. Earlier this month I couldn't help but to peek at some of them ... thanks Dawn! *The above quote came from The Seashore Book . The ocean moves in and then moves out. This place where water, sky and earth meet is never the same. The tide comes in, the tide goes out, each wave that returns pushes against the incoming swell as it is pulled back into the endless depths and swallowed into the vastness of an unknown deep. Such is each day of our "daily" lives. I grew up enjoying the sights, sound, and the surf of the NY/Jersey "shor...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
