Busy, BUSY week ...

I shouldn't even be on the computer, but I figured that while I shovel down my egg sandwich that I just made ... might as well sit and read and write a little.

WE are heavy into our activities right now. Trying to keep up with everyone's schedules, business trips, meetings, practices, classes, and appointments is very tricky right now. I hope I don't crash ...

I am having a little guilt right now about not making homeschooling FUN. We are busy, getting lots done, but my husband joked with me last night about how I am going through all the motions of school, but we need to do other "fun" stuff or else I could be done teaching their current grade by February. Coming up with ideas might be hard for me. I want things to sort of go along with what we are doing in our own home, but where I live might prove to be a little bit of an obstacle. You really have to look HARD to find field trips here. Maybe I am not giving where I live enough credit, but having once lived in two major cities before, I was completely spoiled by our environment.

I need to brainstorm.

???? The local zoo (even though it is not THE BEST) may happen. {m} is learning about classiflying animals so this sounds like a perfect spot. I think my 2 year old and 9 year old will love that too.

????? The Children's Theatre in my area offers tickets (Friday morning shows) to homeschoolers. I just emailed someone about this ... hoping I am not TOO LATE.

?????? We do have a Children's Discovery Museum that I should try to visit. There are a lot of things there that I could connect to.

Thinking, thinking, thinking ...
I am sure that there is so much more that we could find if I really tried. When they were in school, they only did 2-3 field trips in the year, so I would imagine that I could "up" that ;)

Ok, breakfast is done. Onto school and life ...

Sounds like you are on the right track. Don't stress about it right now. Get into your groove and then you'll find some free time (or days) opening up.

I usually don't plan anything besides the State Fair for September. I need to see that we are accomplishing something...

Yeah, I'm no fun either...

There could be worse things than being done with school in February!

Are you at all interested in finding a homeschool support group? Even if we don't always go along with the group, they can be a good source of ideas for field trips.

From a fellow Little Rockian...Pinnacle Mtn has lots of free, or cheap educational activities every month that are for all different ages. And www.littlerock.com has up to date info about what's going on, that usually includes interesting educational ideas.

I think I could be wrong and you don't even live here, but I thought I read that somewhere!

See if you can still get the book Benny's Animals. I had it when I was younger, and {p} loves it. He took it to K today to share. It is ALL about classifying animals!

It's really hard to be fun - there I said it - because the schooling gets in the way! I have to schedule in fun! How crazy is that? A nature walk, a paddle in the stream, a day at the museum, a tea party - the kids love it all and it is reasonably low effort and it doesn't really matter where you live.
Do the girls have any ideas? I asked this once and the most popular choice was bungy jumping! LOL!

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
