My car needs a vacation!

GAS PRICES are killin' us right now. With my driving routine right now we easily fill up the tank every 5 days and with the price at $3.50 right now ... OUCH!

Hopefully the summer months will give my car (Yukon XL) a little bit of a break. Of course we will start off the summer with a big road trip to FL and I know that will be very pricey.

For now I am trying to make every car trip worthwhile ... combining shopping and errands so that there is not the constant go out, go home, and go out again. This doesn't necessarily make my little ones happy when they are stuck waiting for their sisters to finish up activities. After yesterday, I really need to be better prepared with snacks, books, coloring materials, etc. to keep us occupied while we wait.

Another challenge is DINNER. Because I am not home in the afternoon I really need to prepare dinner before lunch. WHY? ... so that we can actually eat dinner at a normal hour and not at 7:30pm when my grumpy children have complained of starvation.

I know the gas prices will go up some more, but hopefully there will be some relief in sight. We have already downsized my husband's car to help save $$$$, but I really can't do that with my car ... I need the space. Besides I don't think that used Yukon XL's are getting good resale at all.

Yes this summer should be interesting if it hits $4 as some predict. And no I don't think you'd get many buyers for a Yukon with the way things are going right now. We are combining trips too and thankfully we are very close to town where we can walk things like the grocery, movie store and library. Oh and the ever important ice cream shop!

Ouch yes we are being hit hard too! We are trying to order in supermarket shopping and combine trips. It really does make a huge difference to our outgoings! We get hit twice as well because we have oil heating too!
We are paying £1.20 a litre for diesel! It cost me £80 to fill my car. That is just not funny!!

UGH. It really is a downer, isn't it? I spent $68.84 to fill my mini-van today...$3.41/gallon. I used to spend less than that with a wash. Sigh.

Pretty sure you could get some takers for your Yukon around here. "The bigger the better" is the motto for cars and houses. A much different mindset than I'm used to.
We used to think that driving was much cheaper than flying, but these days they can be pretty comparable.

I hear ya. we have 4 cars. My little commuter car that does good on the gas mileage, my daughters car...she pays for that gas. My wife has a 15 passenger van. And we also have a Suburban - our spare car. We use that instead of the van when only hauling around a smaller number of kids. The Suburban actually gets better mileage than the van. 15mpg vs 12mpg

The crockpot is your friend.

I hear you! I paid $3.89 a gallon yesterday in Orange County, Ca. Yikes! I really, really miss my old, small car...but I need to haul 5 kids around most days, and sometimes hubby. Right now I am planning all my outings and lining up all errands to do together.

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
