13 years ago TODAY I became
a
MOMMY
I can remember the whole experience so well ...
- eating a gross Domino's pizza before bed and having terrible heartburn
- waking up at 2am with an early sign of labor (plug loss), but I still had no idea
- waking up again at 5am to some contractions
- nudging my husband out of bed to tell him that "this may be it"
- my husband telling me "no ... too early and I have RAMS football tickets for today"
- still having contractions
- my husband is gearing up for some tailgating, but I am guessing this isn't his day for that
- we wait
- wait some more
- I tell my husband that he will have to miss his game today ... we've got other plans
- my husband says he wants to try to sell the ticket (we are poor and need the money)
- he finds someone to buy his ticket so we get in the car to make the trade
- downtown we go ... sitting in traffic, hitting every bump, and me having lots of contractions
- the trade is made and we stop in at a St. Louis Bread Company to eat something small
- I can barely eat ... I feel sick and we leave for the hospital
- the rest I won't get into, but 18 hours after the start of my labor we have our first BABY
Happy Birthday to ...
- my 13 year old
- a teenager
- a beautiful daughter
- the one who made me a mom
I LOVE YOU {e}!

((((hugs))) and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Wonderful pictures!
{W}
Happy Day of Birth to you both.
i love how you celebrate their b-days on the blog!
have a blessed one!!
The most life-changing, that's for sure.
Love all that hair in the first picture.
It seems to me that looking back your husband had enough time to go to the Rams game afterall...not that I'm trying to start trouble or anything ;)
and Sarah ... it is funny how I can recall that birth and labor more than any other. Although I can recall #5 pretty clearly too. Both were not what I expected. I guess that is why they stick in my memory better.
It was just beautiful - and you documented it so well. I loved the part about sitting in traffic to sell tickets because you were poor. Hilarious - although not at the time of course.
What a beautiful young lady she is turning in to. :)
Happy birthday!
Found you via Laura a Catholic Teacher Musings...and will definitely be back!
