HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to ...

The BEST DAD I know.

He isn't home today (off with 3 of our children at yet another AWAY swim meet), but I do know that he will see this on his handy dandy BRAND SPANKING NEW iPhone ;)

He'll have to pretend this little blog post is his card.


So here you go dear ...

I love you in 13 different ways for the # of years you have been DADDY ...
  1. You (on this FATHER'S DAY) are doing what you do best for our children ... being present for them as often as you can.
  2. You want the best for our children and work so very hard to provide what we NEED and what we WANT.
  3. You are oh so cool. Maybe you think you are getting "old", but you are hip ... current ... down with it baby.
  4. You helped give us child #1 (Miss SMARTY PANTS)
  5. You helped give us child #2 (Miss SWIM GIRL)
  6. You helped give us child #3 (Miss Wonder what she will be like when she grows up)
  7. You helped give us child #4 (Miss Tomboy)
  8. You helped give us child #5 (Miss DRAMA)
  9. You help me to discipline when I feel defeated ... we really work like a TEAM
  10. You show our children how important it is to FOLLOW through and do what you say you will, and say what you mean.
  11. You show our children how important it is to GROW and LEARN. Life is always changing and in many ways you know that being stagnant is not what GOD intended.
  12. You are FUN. You have a sense of humor and make our children laugh and smile.
  13. You make our children THINK for themselves. I tend to take the shortcut and do for them what I want, but you encourage them to work it through ... be THE BEST THEY CAN BE!
You are an AWESOME DADDY, dear husband of mine ...

*Hope you don't mind that I cheated a little with 5 posts about why you make a great DAD ;) I kind of think each one of those children make you WHO YOU ARE.

Sounds like he's pretty much a keeper -- but what a good wife you are to praise him up so beautifully! I know the TWO of YOU ARE A GREAT TEAM!!! :)

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
