I could use a little DECORATING HELP in my home ...

When this is the ARTWORK that adorns my walls ...



When these are the accessories that I find laying around ...


When you can buy BUBBLE GUM and it isn't even a store ...


I know my house contains 7 people, 2 dogs, and 3 fish, but STILL ...

Somedays I long for a home ...
  • without dings in the walls
  • with some artwork that wasn't hand done by a child under the age of 14
  • free of scratches on furniture, or stains on carpets
  • that doesn't contain 23 hair bands improperly located
  • with a staircase not containing random items found scattered throughout the home
  • that doesn't need vacuuming 2x a day


It's not that I don't love all that live in my home ... for I do.
I just get a little frustrated over messes.
I get a tad bit envious of those homes that I just saw on the weekend decorating/ do it yourself shows.

There are days that I just wish I could wave a wand and make it all look clean, organized, and decorated.
That would be a DREAM.

I live here and I will do my best to appreciate the NOW.

well I used to think exactly like you. all I saw was the mess and disorder and kids stuff everywhere. I hated it.

But then I realised that those are exactly the things that MAKE a home a home.

How about framing the kid's artwork in a fancy frame? or just getting a few pick me ups around the home to touch it up.

I find those other people's homes of pefection too sterile. They need to kick it up a bit and live a little.

Best artwork ever.

My house is probably worse then yours. It is a home.

Someday...it does happen the kids will be gone. Clean it then!!!!

Good for you!! :) You know, I've seen families that have one frame for each child, and they have them on a prominent wall in the kitchen, or elsewhere, and as the child brings home artwork, the chid can either choose to replace the art in their frame with the new art, or the old art goes in the recycle. It keeps the clutter down, and it makes them feel special because it's framed and visible for everyone! Plus, kiddie art in a frame looks cute, and it still looks like you're decorating your home, but honouring your children as well. :) Just an idea!

I hear ya!

I have been a little cranky about this very same thing lately and have let the words..."why can't we keep anything looking nice around here" spill from my mouth a few too many times.

Sigh...I suppose I should go vacuum the Rice Krispies on my stairs, eh? And I should probably be grateful those Rice Krispies were being carried in a bowl without milk. ;)

Sounds a lot like my house :) And isn't it a mystery where all of the hair bands go? Whenever we are looking for one they have all disappeared!

My 5 year old spilled super glue all over my desk a few days ago. So now I have to find someway to sand it all off and paint the whole top. The life of a mom with a big family, but I wouldn't trade it for anything :)

Momto5minnies meets the Pioneer Woman!

I read her blog and knew that she was coming into town for her book signing and I thought about going, but I also knew it was the day that I was getting my braces off (MONDAY 11/9). On Sunday night before, my husband made a quick trip to Walmart and brought home a flyer saying how Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) was coming the next day. A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...

Not a lot has changed ...

As a puppy he always liked a warm spot. We call Comet our "close talker" (from Seinfeld) because he is in your face and always a little too close for our comfort level. The girls don't seem to mind, but it can be a little annoying for my husband and I. Really, he is a fabulous dog. He listens well and is so gentle with everyone. *We don't let Comet on furniture ... except for the playroom/schoolroom couch. There he enjoys relaxing and being read to by one of the girls. SPOILED POOCH!
