Today I grabbed a rare moment of alone time (TARGET) with the intention ...

of BUYING ...

  • a balloon (although, I know that I would probably need a full pack of them)
  • yeast (along with the balloon, it was needed for a science experiment)
  • water filter cartridge for my refrigerator

YUP ... that was all I needed.

But wait!

Hmmmm, this looks interesting ...

Or maybe this looks even better ...
Plop ... I put that second idea into my shopping cart because I sure could use that.

Then I continue on.

Passing by the cleaning supplies. Surely I NEED something from one of these 4 aisles. Thinking, I decide that dusting supplies are low. I grab what I think I need. My bedroom furniture will be so happy.

Pushing that cart along ...

Oh yeah, those dogs need food. Do I really want to go to another store to purchase dog food? Heck no! I'll just put that 40lb. bag into my shopping cart. YES! It's even on sale ... $1.20 off the original price (LOL).

Keep on pushing that cart.

I should get some dinner for the next two nights. Something easy because my husband is out of town and I don't want a big hassle. It would be so convenient for me to be able to get food at TARGET. MAN, I love this store!

STOP!

STOP!!!!!!!

I realize that my cart has been filled with more than the three items I said I needed. Looking at the time I also notice that my free time is slipping on by. I need to get home, eat lunch (sometimes I even get hungry), pack swim bags, pick up 5 girls from their 4 different locations so that I can take them to swim practice.

I pull myself away from traveling through the rest of TARGET and instead head for the registers. After finding my place on line, I take a quick look at what I have placed in my cart. So many more EXTRAS! Of course I can justify the need for all of the stuff. All except for those cute little organizing lists. Did I really need to spend $6.99 on a magnetic pad to help me list my menu and grocery list for the week? I don't think so ...

It doesn't take but a moment to realize that my days aren't as orchestrated as I would like them to be. Dinner isn't always what I think it will be. Maybe I was hoping for it to be chicken fajitas, but instead it becomes frozen pizza. THAT HAPPENS! Some weeks my budget is a little below (rare), but other weeks it is off the charts. I'm not sure Jean Chatzky knows about those family's of 7!

Thinking about that pad of planning paper, I decide it isn't all that necessary. Last year I bought this amazing day planner and just 2 months later my husband bought me my iPhone that completely eliminated my need to write things down on a cute little blue book that wouldn't fit in my purse.

HELLO??? I have an iPhone with a zillion applications that help me to make lists. I can be strong and put that Jean Chatzky thing back on the shelf.

So I do and CHECKOUT RESUMES ...

This was just a little part of my MONDAY.

If it makes you feel not so alone, last Friday, before 9 am, I had spent $272 at Target. And I only went in for a carset...and some yoga pants...and some pull-ups.

Yep, yeppers. Full cart.

Target. Now off my list for Lent.

Target is an addiction. You can walk in there just for one specific item and walk out spending $100. That's why we shop at Kmart. The store isn't that appealing, so we run in and run out.

i like the second shopping/menu list - i just made my own 2wk menu in Word Doc. Nothing out there made menu planning easy for *me* - but that second one, had i seen it, would've been in my cart too!!

i hate Target! Actually i love it - ... it's complicated. I'm sure you understand! LOL

Feeling every bit of 46 ... ugh!

When I was 45, I was feeling fabulous.   I was fit, energetic, and I thought I could easily pass for 40;) Age was just a number and I certainly didn't think I felt or looked my true age. Then February 11th came and I turned 46.   I have sciatica on my left side, my left knee is stiff, and I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.   I've resorted to stretching all the time and popping the occasional anti-inflammatory.   There are dark circles under my eyes that I've had to start putting concealer on.   My hair is growing out from last years 45 year old short hair, but it's just in an awkward stage.  I can't decide if I want to cut it again or let it grow out.   I even thought of styling my hair differently by doing a different hair part.   That was a terrible idea because I was SHOCKED to see how much gray is now growing in the center of my scalp.  I also think my metabolism is slowing down because my mid section seems a little thicker ... ...

"The Loveliness of The Seashore"

What is the "Seashore" like? "Where the sky meets the sea ... The seashore is a place where the sea and the sky are the same smoky gray until ... the morning sun breaks through. The hot noonday sun feels warm as a big soft cat covering you. And it seems there is nothing in the world except the sound of the wind and the rising and falling of waves." Over at Dawn 's there are so many wonderful books suggested on her blog. Earlier this month I couldn't help but to peek at some of them ... thanks Dawn! *The above quote came from The Seashore Book . The ocean moves in and then moves out. This place where water, sky and earth meet is never the same. The tide comes in, the tide goes out, each wave that returns pushes against the incoming swell as it is pulled back into the endless depths and swallowed into the vastness of an unknown deep. Such is each day of our "daily" lives. I grew up enjoying the sights, sound, and the surf of the NY/Jersey "shor...

A scattered post ...

I throw myself into stuff all the time.  It can be anything from the start of a swim season, a new school year, the election, a vacation, an exercise routine etc.  I'm kind of in a phase where I really don't know what my focus should be.  I turned on the television and honestly, I have no idea what is on this fall season ... NO IDEA AT ALL .  If I watched television in the past few months, it was something kid related or Fox News. I NEED A NEW FOCUS. My current thoughts  ... reading a fictional, just for fun book stepping up my exercise routine thinking about our Christmas wish lists and shopping baking more ... I really am slacking in this area ways to save money so that we can get a new (second) washer and dryer for the upstairs (not a fancy kind because this would mostly be used by my oldest two children)... I actually have hookups. I wonder if a lot of people go through a sort of "lull" period this time of the year.  Surely it doesn't last long with the start ...
